PROJECTS

SOCIAL

At Lulú Marlen Circus Company, we firmly believe that art is a powerful tool for social transformation, and that the healing power of laughter, tenderness, and joy—offered by clowns—plays a vital role in creating spaces of safety and resilience in the face of complex life situations.

Here, we share a brief overview of some of the projects we have developed and participated in.

If you represent a company, foundation, or institution and would like to take part in future editions, we invite you to join us in this mission to bring art, play, and hope to the places where they are most needed. Join us in our mission to continue illuminating lives and building a brighter future through art.

With the support of the Cultural Sponsorship Program (Mecenazgo Cultural) and the collaboration of Fundación Macro, we brought the show Mundos Deseables to hospitals and healthcare centers across the City of Buenos Aires in Argentina sharing moments of art, play, and hope with children, families, and healthcare teams.

In addition to the performances, we offer a space for reflection where audience members are invited to write or draw their own dreams. This creates a deeply moving exchange—a space to imagine a possible future together, to envision what lies ahead, and to reconnect with the power of dreaming as a community.

Mundos Deseables is not just a project; it is also a shared dream that continues to grow with each performance.

Spaces visited:
Garrahan Hospital · Laura Bonaparte Hospital · Gutiérrez Children’s Hospital · Italian Hospital (in partnership with FUNI – Association for the Future of the Child) · CeSAC 43 · CeSAC 27 Playroom

Clowns Without Borders

In 2024, together with the Chilean company Pataleta and the Spanish non-profit organization Clowns Without Borders, we took part in a project that included 14 performances for 2,683 people affected by the devastating wildfires in Chile’s Fifth Region (Valparaíso, Viña del Mar, and Quilpué).

The fires claimed the lives of more than 100 people, left hundreds injured, burned over 10,000 hectares of land, and displaced more than 30,000 people from their homes. The disaster has been described as the country’s worst tragedy since the 2010 earthquake.

Social Project

With the support of the Cultural Sponsorship Program (Mecenazgo Cultural) and the collaboration of Fundación Santander, we carried out this project with the goal of bringing circus-based artistic experiences to neighborhood community kitchens across the City of Buenos Aires, in order to inspire, empower, and create new opportunities for children in vulnerable situations.

Mundos Deseables was not only a project, but also an opportunity for connection, solidarity, and shared growth. We are deeply grateful to Fundación Santander, the Mecenazgo Cultural program, and all the community leaders who welcomed us and made this meaningful initiative possible—one that continues to make a difference in our communities.

Theater with Community Impact

At the beginning of 2024, with the support of the National Theater Institute (Instituto Nacional del Teatro), we brought the play Mundos Deseables to five community kitchens in the Greater Buenos Aires area. We presented performances for children and their families, accompanied by participatory conversations where we imagined possible futures together.

Through laughter, questions, and shared dreams, art became a tool for transformation. Because we believe that laughter, imagination, and community can open paths toward more desirable worlds.

Together with the company Por Akí Por Allá, we carried out a tour across different towns and small cities throughout the Province of Buenos Aires. The tour took us to La Madrid, Tapalqué, General Alvear, Chillar, Azul, Bahía Blanca, Villa Ventana, Pellegrini, Tandil, Tres Lomas, and Villa Gesell.

This tour was made possible with the support of various municipal governments and programs, including the Vaccination Program (Municipality of Alvear), the El Banquito collective (Chillar), the Macedonio Fernández Public Library (Villa Ventana), and the Rural Schools Network.

Thanks to these partnerships, the company presented 40 performances, reaching more than 2,800 audience members across the province.

Latin America United by Laughter

Together with the company Por Akí Por Allá, we embarked on a Latin American tour driven by the desire to bring our performances to schools across the continent, offering children the opportunity to experience the magic of circus arts as part of a meaningful cultural exchange with children and adults in both cities and remote towns.

With the aim of democratizing access to art and affirming it as a genuine right for everyone, we toured with two established productions: Pequeño Gran Circo, a family-friendly show, and Gran Varieté de Lujo, created for adult audiences. In this spirit, four clowns specializing in different artistic disciplines set off on this shared adventure.

Traveling through Bolivia, Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, and Chile, the performances were warmly received by children and general audiences alike. The shows were presented in festivals, theaters, and on the streets themselves, embraced by diverse audiences and performed across a wide variety of settings.
